Formerly known as Paxman Diesel, Derek is a kind and helpful engine. He was able to convince Bill and Ben, after helping them at the Brendam Docks, that not all diesels cause trouble.

2001 European Character Card

Derek the Diesel looks the part but he sadly suffers a lot from overheating and various other teething troubles. He is a kindly soul who once did his best to help Bill & Ben out of trouble.

2007 Character Card

Derek is an engine who spends most of his time at the quarries and clay mines near Brendam Docks. Prone to overheating his engine, Bill and Ben helped Derek by pulling him back to the Works for repair.

The prototype 2001 Derek features a thicker face, no nails on top, and a white engine.
