The Mountain Tunnel Set is a large set made to fit on a playtable. A slightly modified version was also released as the Thomas Classroom Activity Set. It was first released in Clickity-Clack Track, then in Traction Rail in 2002.

Trivia[]
- The set is a simplified version of the 1998 yearbook layout idea "Coming Around the Mountain"; the yearbook version features Action Switches and incorporates a Special Engine Shed, the Log Loader, and the Barrel Loader (the latter being retained for the Classroom Activity Set variant, as noted below).
- The prototype 2002 Mountain Tunnel Set features James in place of Mike.
- In a stock image of the 2002 version, the Sodor Line Caboose has taken the place of Mike's tender and vice versa.
- The original Clickity-Clack track version of the Mountain Tunnel Set was updated in 2001 to include the redesigned Arched Stone Bridge and Mountain Tunnel.
