Product Description[]

1999 Character Card[]

Toad works happily as Oliver's brake van on Duck's branch line. Oliver and Toad were saved from scrap by Douglas and are very grateful to him.

Toad is Oliver's brake van. He travels backwards to keep his eyes on the tracks and on the Troublesome Trucks, who used to play tricks on him and Oliver. Since being saved from scrap by Douglas, he and Oliver love working together on Duck's branch line.

Changes[]

  • 1998 (forward facing magnet polarity)
  • 2000 (backward facing magnet polarity)
  • 2001 (name on chassis)
  • 2006 (updated face, brake lever)

Trivia[]

  • Roy Wilson's hand-made prototype Toad features green sticker decals instead of gray printed detailing, a light beige roof, and a hand-sculpted face.
  • Toad and the NW Brakevan are the only actual British brakevans in the range. The Sodor Line Caboose and all of its variants are based on American cabooses, and the Troublesome Brakevan is not actually a brakevan.
  • Toad was recalled for lead paint in 2007.
  • The prototype 2006 Toad has the brake lever facing towards his front wheels instead of his rear ones.
  • The 1998-1999 versions of Toad have an incorrect magnet polarity. This also happened with Terence.
